Owner Kate Derr Ansari is our fearless leader and boss lady. While juggling two kiddos and running the business, she tries to pop in to every event she can.
Kate was planning her own wedding and was looking for a venue that felt like home. She never did find a space with the perfect mix of style and flexibility. Six years later she finally found the venue she would have chosen and now she's making Main Street Ballroom a reality for brides across Maryland, D.C., Pennsylvania and Virginia! Main Street Ballroom is the result of years of dreaming and searching for just the right space. We hope you'll fall in love with Main Street Ballroom just like Kate did when she first walked in.
VENUE MANAGEMENT TEAM
We think it’s important for you to be surrounded by incredible people on your big day. That’s why we’ve hired the most friendly and helpful venue management team in the industry. From setting up our tables and chairs to helping with the little details that may have fallen through the cracks during the planning process, we’re here for you to make sure your event runs smoothly. Need something? We’ll do our best to make it happen!
Tom is on our venue management team and will be there for you in any way that he can on your big day. From helping set up tables to lifting heavy things, Tom is your go-to for making sure your event runs smoothly. As our resident strongman, you can ask Tom for help with just about anything! He also does vendor walkthroughs and handyman work around the venue.
Melissa is on our venue management team and this brand new mama and her baby boy join us before guests arrive during morning setup. Kate started this company because there were no jobs that offered the kind of flexibility she needed as a working mom, so she created one for herself. Now she’s so excited to be able to offer a flexible work environment for another working mama.
Jess is on our venue management team and is known for her killer style and attention to detail. She’s got an eye for design and a background in event planning that will help make sure your event runs smoothly from start to finish. After more than a decade in corporate America, she has traded in her logistical and managerial skills for timelines and boutonnieres. Whatever you need, however she can help, Jess is there to get it done and help you celebrate your life's most memorable moments.
BEHIND THE SCENES (AKA UNSUNG HEROES)
Laura is Kate’s mama and our queen of tours, emails and good vibes. After a decades-long career in project management, Laura uses her skills to streamline the booking process and loves to do tours on available weekend dates. She also likes to pop in to every event she can because she used to make Kate crash weddings when she was a teen. Kate was mortified but it turns out this would be a useful life skill for a venue owner one day. Mama knows best.
Morakot is on our operations team. You can expect her to get in touch with you a few months prior to your event to send well wishes in your planning and request additional information such as catering, floor plan, etc. to ensure the venue is more than ready for you and your guests. She is a mama to two super energized kids who regularly provide her insight on diverse topics from sparkly unicorns to video gaming, works part-time as a university adjunct instructor, and enjoys organizing the details for our events.
Jim is Kate’s dad and you might see him doing some handyman work around the venue or driving our vintage peacock blue Ford Falcon to the venue for photo ops. Jim recently retired and is spending it volunteering with the Montgomery County Police Department, working at Wolf Trap with Laura and helping his daughter run her business from behind the scenes.
